CHON BURI (Thailand), May 16 — The first day's play at the Pattana Golf Championship, the MENA Tour’s first 72-hole event, was called off on Tuesday without a ball being hit due to a waterlogged course.
Weather permitting, play will commence on Wednesday as per the first round draw and the cut will still be made after 36 holes.
“The course is still severely waterlogged with a number of fairways and other areas in unplayable conditions. With more rain forecast for the afternoon, we have made the decision that no play will take place today,” said Trevor Varri, the tournament director.
It is the first time a whole day has been lost at a MENA Tour event since its inception in 2011.
